What Forms Tell Us

“On Branches” is an editorial design project inspired by the intriguing silhouettes of branches. The book celebrates the richness of plant forms while exploring the curiosity behind how they come to be.

Photographs of trees and plants were rendered in monochrome to foreground structure and rhythm. As readers turn the pages, they encounter a wide range of branching forms, while accompanying texts trace the stories of their formation—inviting an immersive sense of nature’s wonder.

Every element—from titles and headings to body copy and object placement—was designed through a careful approach to white space and typographic balance. Paper selection and a hand-bound finish further strengthen the book’s physical presence.

かたちが語るもの

「枝 かたち なりたち」は、枝が生み出す輪郭の面白さから着想したエディトリアル・デザイン作品です。植物のかたちの豊かさを讃えながら、その起源に対する好奇心を、本という媒体で掘り下げました。

樹木や植物の写真はモノクロームへ調整し、構造とリズムを際立たせています。ページをめくるごとに多様な分岐の形態が現れ、添えられたテキストがその形成の背景をひもとくことで、自然の驚きを没入的に体験できる構成としました。

タイトルや見出し、本文、オブジェクトの配置に至るまで、余白と文字組のバランスを軸に設計。紙の選定と手製本の仕立てによって、作品としての佇まいを丁寧に形づくっています。
