Dancing Bodies Occupying the Frame

Artwork for “Squatter,” an album by the alternative rock band AFRICAEMO. Built on the physical intensity of post-rock and hardcore, the music channels raw energy into a liberating, dance-driven sound.

Against a vivid yellow field, countless hand-drawn figures multiply across the surface, moving as if to occupy the frame. Their chaotic yet celebratory rhythm translates the album’s physicality and sense of release into a dense visual pattern.

From the jacket and booklet to the disc and merchandise, the figures gather in overwhelming numbers, saturating the world of the album. True to the title “Squatter,” the artwork turns occupation into an explosive image of vitality, resonating closely with the band’s sound.

踊る身体が、画面を占拠する

オルタナティブロックバンドAFRICAEMOのアルバム「Squatter」のアートワーク。ポストロックやハードコアの身体的な強度を軸に、荒々しいエネルギーを開放感のあるダンス・ミュージックへと変換するバンドのサウンドを視覚化しました。

鮮烈なイエローの画面上に、手描きの人物たちが増殖し、フレームを占拠するように踊り広がっていきます。混沌と祝祭が同居するそのリズムによって、音楽の肉体性と解放感を、密度の高いビジュアルパターンへと翻訳しています。

ジャケット、ブックレット、盤面、グッズに至るまで、無数の身体が集まり、アルバムの世界を圧倒的な密度で満たしていきます。タイトル「Squatter」に呼応し、占拠という行為を生命力の爆発へと転換することで、バンドのサウンドと強く響き合うアートワークとしました。
