Light of Bubbles

“KIHOU” is a poetic ambient light that uses liquid and air bubbles to create a fantastical glow. Inside the vessel, two liquids of different viscosities overlap, while a small pump and LED concealed below send illuminated bubbles rising to the surface in a continuous stream. Emerging from beneath the dark liquid layer, each glowing bubble shimmers and drifts, softly lighting the surrounding space.

As bubbles form and burst in rhythm, the thickness of liquid and the lightness of oil combine to produce unpredictable expressions of light. This coexistence of chance and order gives the vessel the impression of being alive, evoking intimacy and resonance in the viewer. KIHOU transforms light from a simple fixture into a “small living being” that evolves with time, engaging not only sight but also the senses and emotions, and bringing warmth and poetic depth to any space.

泡の灯り

液体と空気の泡を利用した幻想的な間接照明「KIHOU」。器の内部には粘度の異なる二種類の液体が重なり、その下に仕込まれた小さなポンプとLEDによって、水面には光を帯びた泡が絶え間なく浮かび上がります。黒い液体の層の下から立ち上る泡の輝きが柔らかく揺らぎながら、空間をやさしく照らし出します。

泡が生まれ、弾けるリズムに液体の粘りやオイルの軽やかさが加わることで、予測できない光の表情が現れます。その偶発性と規則性の共存が、器そのものに生命を宿したかのような印象を与え、愛着や共鳴を呼び起こします。KIHOUは光を単なる照明ではなく、時間とともに変化し続ける「小さな生命体」として感じさせるプロダクトです。
