Protecting About 10 Liters of Water with a Single Box
Design of business cards and boxes made from “LIMEX,” a new material supporting a sustainable society. Developed in Japan, LIMEX is composed mainly of limestone, requiring no large amounts of water or wood pulp in production. Using abundant and inexpensive limestone, it achieves both reduced environmental impact and economic efficiency.
The translucent box featured ten scales, overlapping with the remaining cards inside. At the bottom of each card, the message “100 cards per box protect about 10 liters of water” was printed. Together, the box and cards reminded users that every use contributed to water conservation.
Since launch, LIMEX cards have been adopted by over 4,500 companies and organizations as an eco-conscious communication tool. Recognized as a material that advances the SDGs, they are increasingly used by municipalities and educational institutions.
一箱で約10リットルの水を守る
持続可能な社会を支える新素材「LIMEX」の名刺と名刺箱のデザイン。LIMEXは石灰石を主成分とする日本発の紙・プラスチック代替素材で、大量の水や木材パルプを必要とせず、安価な石灰石を原料とすることで環境負荷の軽減と経済性の両立を可能にします。
透過性を活かした外箱には10の目盛りを施し、箱と中の名刺の残数が重なって見える構造に。名刺下部には「1箱100枚で約10リットルの水を守る」と明記し、外箱と名刺を組み合わせることで、使用のたびに水資源の節約を実感できる仕掛けとしました。
発売以来、LIMEX名刺は4,500社を超える企業や団体に導入され、環境配慮型のコミュニケーションツールとして浸透。SDGsの目標に資する素材として注目が高まり、自治体や教育現場での採用も広がりを見せています。
