Order and Freedom in Session

Artwork for the long-established jazz club “BODY&SOUL,” founded in 1974 and recognized as a pioneer of Japan’s jazz live house culture. Nestled in a backstreet off Omotesando’s Kotto-dori, the club has long captivated many devoted fans.

The theme, “Session of Order and Freedom,” was inspired by the essence of jazz—where a shared melody forms the foundation, yet each player’s individuality and improvisation create variations unique to that moment.

Using piano keys as the motif, the black and white keys were rearranged and reconstructed while retaining the original form of the keyboard. This depicts the spark of inspiration that emerges within a structured framework. It evokes the richness of music, space, and the one-of-a-kind sessions that unfold each night.

秩序と自由のセッション

老舗ジャズクラブ「BODY&SOUL」のアートワーク。1974年に創業した同店は、日本のジャズライブハウスの先駆けとして知られます。表参道・骨董通りの裏通りに佇み、長年にわたり多くのファンを魅了してきました。

共通の旋律を基盤にしつつ、演奏者の個性や即興によってその場限りのバリエーションが生まれるのがジャズの醍醐味と捉え、「秩序と自由のセッション」をテーマとしました。

ピアノの白鍵と黒鍵をモチーフに、鍵盤の原型を残しながら感覚的に並び替え再構築することで、規律ある構造の中に生まれる瞬間的なひらめきを描き出しました。それは音楽と空間、そして一夜ごとのセッションの豊かさを想起させます。
