A Device for Generating New Words

Created in my senior year as a graduation project, Unconscious Song explores the finite yet infinite nature of language and seeks new possibilities for expression.

Language cuts fragments from the chaos of the world and assigns meaning. Our thoughts and actions are shaped by it, yet these associations often become habitual and lose freshness. In this work, I designed a mechanism that preserves linguistic structure while shifting the link between form and meaning, allowing new words to emerge automatically.

The words generated through this device restore unexpected brilliance to what had become fixed. They open perspectives beyond the everyday and offer clues for creativity, presenting new possibilities at the intersection of language and design.

新しいことばを自動生成する装置

大学4年時に制作した卒業制作「無意識のうた」。本作は、言葉の有限性と無限性に着目し、言語と表現の新たな可能性を探る試みです。

言葉は、混沌とした世界を人間が切り取り意味を与えたもの。私たちの認識も行動も言葉によって成り立っていますが、その結びつきは時に惰性化し、新鮮さを失います。本作では、言語の構造を壊さず、既成の語形と語義の関係をずらすことで、新しい言葉を自動生成する仕組みを設計しました。

装置を通じて生まれる言葉は、硬直していた認識に思いがけない輝きをもたらします。日常を超えた視点を開き、創造の手がかりとなるこの体験は、言語とデザインの交差点に新しい可能性を提示しています。
